About
I am a practicing psychologist with an MSc in Psychology from the University of Cologne and a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Psychology. Today I am CEO of UberEgo, Managing Partner at Brains&Bots, and an author.
My work sits at the intersection of psychology, technology, entrepreneurship, and human agency.
Imagine what seems impossible. Move toward it. Never settle for less in work, in love, or in what you are willing to risk.
Human beings are shaped by forces they only partly understand.
Progress in the world has to be matched by progress in human beings.
The time has come when we have to put transcendence over survival.
My psychological work begins with one premise: human beings are adaptive, goal-directed, self-regulating organisms navigating a fundamentally uncertain world. Seven ideas carry it.
You enter life with a disposition and an environment you did not choose. Functioning depends on how well person and environment fit, and sometimes the intelligent move is to change the environment.
Adaptation runs in two directions. Inner regulation changes the state of the person. Outer navigation changes their relationship to the world. Neither works alone.
Life looks chaotic from the inside. Beneath it lies structure we cannot fully see. Fundamental uncertainty remains, avoidable uncertainty can shrink.
Patterns a life keeps returning to. Some pull us toward suffering, some become limits we have outgrown. A better equilibrium can require breaking a good one.
Life moves in cycles of perceiving, understanding, anticipating, acting, and developing. Every result changes what you see next, and a cycle only teaches you something when uncomfortable feedback is allowed in.
Truth shows what is. It does not say what to do. Direction comes from what is worth pursuing for this person, in this life, given reality as it is.
The reference point of everything: becoming able to understand and shape the forces that direct your life. Insight is the start. Action is where it counts.
I work selectively with people whose inner lives and life trajectories are difficult to reduce to conventional categories. My strongest instrument is pattern recognition. I look across personality, biography, relationships, motives, environments, decisions, and recurring outcomes to find the entangled patterns that are hard to see from inside one's own life. The aim is to expose the structure beneath what looks chaotic, contradictory, or simply unfortunate.
I formulate, challenge, confront, interpret, and give direction when direction is useful. I am comfortable with intensity, contradiction, anger, grief, laughter, and moments in which a person's existing narrative breaks open.
A small number of places are reserved for substantially reduced-fee Counsel where there is a strong fit. Mention it when getting in touch. Counsel is psychological consultation and mentoring. It does not include diagnosis or treatment of illness.
I believe a single high‑resolution encounter can sometimes expose more than years of diffuse conversation. The objective is depth.
In practice, the unit is the individual encounter. In technology, the question becomes how the same capacities can reach millions of people. UberEgo expands agency over the self. Brains&Bots expands agency in the world.
An evolving model of the person-in-context across time, encountering you as a persistent personal intelligence that expands human agency instead of automating it.
Education, tools, community, and entrepreneurial identity for people who want to build with AI. Entrepreneurship turns an imagined future into something real, and expresses who you are along the way. AI is the brush for the life and the world you want to shape.
Not everything belongs inside a company, a scientific framework, or a psychological practice. Writing is where I explore the parts of human existence that resist clean reduction: meaning, suffering, desire, freedom, identity, chaos, fate, and transformation.

About · Story
I was raised by a single mother. I repeated a grade. I lost years to nightlife while others already seemed to know where they were headed. I was often the black sheep, not because nothing mattered to me, but because for a long time I had not found anything that mattered enough to give everything for.
Until I did.
I first came into contact with psychology when I was sixteen, at a time when school, family, and relationships had all become difficult at once. What began as an attempt to make sense of my own life became a fascination with the human condition. I began to understand that beneath what often looks like chaos, there are patterns, dynamics, and forms of order that remain invisible and are often deeply counterintuitive.
Sometime in my early twenties, I came across a quote on a desk calendar, attributed to Confucius: “If you want to be happy, you need to change often”. Whether he actually said it, I do not know. Probably not. But it became my philosophy.
Change begins with radical honesty. The better you understand yourself, the more deliberately you can change yourself. And the more deliberately you can change, the more capable you become of authoring your own life.
For me, the highest expression of this is alignment. Knowing who you are, knowing what matters, and having the courage to make the difficult decisions required to bring your life into accordance with it. Sometimes that means changing yourself. Sometimes it means refusing to adapt and changing the conditions around you.
Imagine what seems impossible. Move toward it. Never settle for less in work, in love, or in what you are willing to risk. That conviction has shaped my life ever since.
My understanding of people has been shaped as much outside universities as within them: by moving through radically different social milieus, traveling across continents, high-performance environments, entrepreneurship, complex relationships, drugs, personal crises, failure, and encounters with exceptional people. Some transformed themselves. Some, despite extraordinary gifts, destroyed themselves. Some I lost along the way.
Today, the same fascination runs through my psychological practice, the technologies I build, and the mission I pursue: understanding the forces that shape human lives and expanding our ability to influence what comes next.
About · Vision
What makes a life feel truly alive and worth living, and how can we increase the chances for that despite, or even because of, life's chaos and uncertainty?
For me, the answer begins with human agency.
Agency is the capacity to understand reality, act effectively within it, and deliberately shape what comes next. It means setting goals, turning intentions into action, regulating thoughts, emotions, and behavior, learning from feedback, and experiencing oneself as the active author of one's life.
Everything I do grows from this one commitment. In my psychological practice, I strengthen agency one person at a time, through relationship, pattern-recognition, and depth. Human-centered Cybernetics gives that work its method, a way of seeing how a life regulates itself and navigates uncertainty. UberEgo carries this understanding to millions of people as technology for the self. Brains&Bots carries it into the world, to people who want to create something that did not exist before.
Progress in the world has to be matched by progress in human beings.
As machines take over the problems of survival, productivity, and material progress, the question shifts back to the human being: what kind of intelligence do humans themselves need to develop? That is what I mean by mind over matter. What is the point of becoming multiplanetary if we carry the same unresolved human dynamics with us? We could extract new resources, build more advanced technologies, and extend our survival indefinitely without ever answering what that survival is actually for. The time has come when we have to put transcendence over survival.
The next frontier is the deliberate expansion of human capability, individually and collectively: greater self-awareness, psychological integration, emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, relational capacity, and conscious participation in our own development. Technology can support this development. The destination is a more capable human being. A Homo Novus: the self-directed human.
My work follows an inside-out progression. It begins with the human being and extends into the systems, environments, and institutions that human behavior shapes, because people shape their environments and those environments shape them in return. Over time, I want to build an integrated ecosystem of companies, technologies, and scientific capabilities centered on the future of mind, brain, and behavior, in service of a more self-aware, self-directed, capable human being and, ultimately, a more intelligent civilization.
This is why I think of the human being as the fundamental unit of civilization.
One life is the unit. Humanity is the scale.
